| There are two main types
of contact lenses, Rigid Gas Permeable, and Soft. Soft lenses can be
further differentiated by the frequency of disposal. Conventional soft
contact lenses are disposed on a yearly basis, while planned replacement lenses
are designed to be replaced on a daily, bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly
basis. |
 |
Contact lenses can be used to correct for virtually all
vision conditions that are
correctable with spectacles. Astigmatism lenses and multifocal (bifocal) lenses are also
available! Color contact lenses are available with or without
prescription.
Care of Contact
Lenses
Contact lenses
require a small amount of maintenance to ensure that the eyes remain healthy.
It is best to remove the contacts prior to sleeping. In addition,
a cleaning solution should be used every day. Once the techniques are learned,
the process is simple and can be completed in only a few minutes per
day.
A video that reviews contact lens care can be seen atCoopervision's
(a contact lens manufacturer) website.
To
maintain ocular health, a yearly examination is required. At this visit,
your doctor will ensure that your current contacts are still fitting
properly.
